University of Mount Olive

University of Mount Olive is a private, Christian university offering a variety of degree options for traditional, adult, international and online students. COCG was tasked with creating a functional, user-friendly website to better reflect the history, culture and unique student population of this liberal arts university in Mount Olive, North Carolina.

University of Mount Olive wanted a fresher, more hip look that would appeal to incoming freshmen (teens and early 20s), while also keeping an easy-to-use user experience for all age groups, including adult students. We chose to go with a responsive website design, given that a large percentage of University of Mount Olive’s previous website traffic was coming from mobile devices. In addition, we believed that keeping the design mobile-centric would appeal to smartphone-loving teens and benefit the University by offering a great user experience that would keep them on the site.

With a focus on bringing in prospective students for visits, a “request a visit” dropdown follows users throughout the site across versions (mobile, tablet and desktop). This ever-present callout is responsible for over 3X as many request completions as traditional “request a visit” pages. The second primary conversion goal was encouraging prospective students to apply online. Custom event tracking records clicks to each individual application callout separately, allowing detailed reports for the client and thorough A/B conversion testing.
